Art. 36 ArGV 3 requires that the necessary means are always available. For companies where employees face eye hazards from chemicals, dust, chips or radiation, this means specifically: a fully operational eyewash station is not an option, it is an obligation. EKAS Directive 6512 specifies that it must be accessible and fully functional at all times, while GHS/CLP labelling additionally obliges companies to ensure the first aid measures prescribed in safety data sheets are in place.
